It’s impressive what a few small changes can do to transform a space. Simply painting, changing window furnishings or floor coverings, updating light fittings or furnishings, accessorising with cushions or simply decluttering & cleaning up will make a big difference to any room & best of all the changes you make to a room don’t always have to be expensive or time consuming. Interior design & decorating is about being creative & finding ways to achieve the look you practically & want within your budget.
The 90’s style light fitting above an ensuite mirror in this Lorne apartment was easily swapped for a crisp, up to date fitting.

In this Geelong home I simply replaced the coffee table with a new one made from brass & glass for a lighter look, added a modern rug to break the vast expanse of carpet & had some cushions made in some bright Aztec inspired fabric.

Another simple fix is reupholstering… I gave a clients tired, dull ottoman a new lease of life by having it recovered in a vibrant fabric from Marco at 1/2 the price of buying a new piece.

In the games room below I just changed the tired carpet to parquetry, then added a bold black & white chevron print rug to create a big impact. Furniture from another room in my clients home was repurposed to make the room inviting.

A kitchen renovation can be as simple as this little makeover I did recently. We simple covered the tiled bench tops with Natura Stone, retiled the splash back with simple brick laid white 300×100 tiles, replaced the cooktop & oven & lastly replaced the brass light fittings with brushed chrome fittings. A vast improvement for very little effort & expensive compared to a full kitchen renovation.
