When I first viewed this Geelong home with my clients, I was surprised it was only 8 years old. Every square inch of floor was covered an awful 80’s look tiles, including the front bedroom! The basins, toilets & tap ware were all beige & the entire home was painted a depressing shade of magnolia cream. The house its self had great potential but it was going to need a full makeover…. A complete repaint + replacement of all the window furnishings, floor coverings, door furniture, sanitary ware, tap ware, light fittings, cabinetry & more. My clients wanted a home with contemporary elegance. My brief was straight forward: Please make the cream go away with white & charcoal hues & cover the hideous tiles… within our budget.
I chose to use a single paint colour – Wattyl Astor White throughout for the ceiling, walls, skirting boards, architraves, window frames & kitchen cabinets. I then used Dulux Klavier as an agent on the fire surround, staircase & front door.
The wall tiles in the 3 bathrooms were resurfaced in pure white, the cabinetry in the bathrooms was replaced with Polytech Classic White Sheen Doors & Laminex 180FX Carrera Marble Diamond Gloss Tops. All the bathroom fittings were replaced.
In the kitchen the cabinetry doors were retained & simply painted. The splash back tiles were replaced with eye-catching black & white patterned tiles & the bench top replaced with a Caesarstone Piatra Grey.
The door furniture through out was replaced with Luxe Lever Sets from Zanda.
White Shutters from JVI Window Furnishings transformed the once heavily draped windows.
All the pendant light fittings were replaced with more contemporary pieces chosen by myself & my clients & a many more down lights were added as the house had minimal lighting for its size.
For the floors a combination of Bakers Creeks carpet in Pebble & Provincial Lane Timber Flooring in Hazelnut was laid in the living areas & Como Black 450 x 450mm floor tiles were laid in the bathrooms.
