I visited this Batesford home on the outskirts of Geelong mid 2015 to advise it’s owners how to freshen & modernise it as they were planning to sell their property the not too distant future along with the adjoining Paradise IV Winery & Vineyard. They had built the home themselves in the late 80’s, paying careful attention to detail recreating a traditional federation style home. Nearly 30 years on the house was still in terrific condition but the heavy window coverings & vivid paint palette had, had their day.
My interior design advice was to undertake a simple refurbishment, mainly relying power of paint to do most of the work. In this case I felt prospective buyers would be impressed by the condition of the home & wowed buy the stunning property & vineyards themselves, that they would appreciate the merits of a minor facelift by the owners but be willing to undertake larger renovations should they purchase the property. With that in mind I advised my clients to simply paint throughout in the same shade of chalk white, to replace the heavy patterned drapery with plain roman blinds, to replace carpets & some light fittings & to freshen the kitchen with a new bench top & splash back tiles. My clients undertook the work themselves to impressive results…
